Thanks to valuable backing from Action Together's Oldham Community Recovery Fund, Saddleworth Life has been able to run a 3-month "Community Pull," giving community groups, charities, CICs and non-profit organisations the opportunity to have reports and articles published, to tell people about their activities. The small volunteer team at Saddleworth Life was able to work with these groups to offer copy writing and guaranteed inclusion in the online magazine. A lot of groups took advantage of this opportunity, and in a post project survey (1) 90% of these groups said that the difficult situation meant that they had an increased need to communicate with the public, mainly to give them details about changes as a result of restrictions, and the alternatives offered - such as online group, or socially distanced group meetings. 75% of the respondents had used this opportunity. They estimated that about 400 people on average benefited from each of the groups' articles and features, and with the reach of the site, that will mean more than 3,300 people benefited over all. All of the groups would like this support to be ongoing, as many of them are not funded, or are on a very limited budget.
